Gifts of Hope
Gifts of Hope is a ministry sponsored by the Metropolitan Washington DC Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Gifts of Hope is an alternative gift-giving program. We connect donors and organizations that serve those in need, both locally and internationally. Operating for more than 25 years, Gifts of Hope has raised and disbursed $3.5 million to two church camps, four ministries, three international companion synods, and ten area social service agencies affiliated with the Metropolitan Washington DC Synod. Our mission is to maximize funds going to these organizations and to encourage volunteer involvement.

What We Do

We fund Lutheran ministries that serve communities in need across the DC Metro area.

Your donations help feed families experiencing food insecurity through our partner agencies.

We help fund emergency shelters and transitional housing to ensure stability for vulnerable individuals.
Invest in Education
Gifts of Hope supports scholarships and education access for children and adults in need.

We assist programs that offer mental health, medical aid, and counseling to underserved communities.
Global Mission Support
Through our partners, we extend care and support to communities beyond our local region.
Disaster Response
We mobilize resources to help communities recover from natural and human-made disasters.
